Arlo renamed its US plans on September 15, 2026: Plus became Smart Aware, Premium became Smart Secure, and Premium with 24/7 Recording became Ultra Secure. Arlo says the rename itself does not change an existing subscription price. Camera subscriptions and alarm-monitoring requirements remain different purchase decisions.

• The Arlo Home Security System includes a keypad hub and compatible sensors. Buying an individual Arlo camera does not automatically include this alarm hardware.
• Smart Aware covers one camera or unlimited cameras at one location. Smart Secure and Ultra Secure add eligible professional monitoring for the Arlo Home Security System; compare the separate hardware and setup requirements. Current charges and the distinct prepaid offer are explained below.
• Smart Secure and Ultra Secure include professional monitoring for the Arlo Home Security System. Arlo says its agents respond to security events detected while the system is armed; this is a sensor-based alarm-monitoring service, not merely an app connection to an agent.
• Smart Aware includes supported detection features and 60-day event history. Theft replacement has separate device, seller, purchase-age, paid-plan, police-report and claim-deadline requirements; it is not an unconditional replacement guarantee.
• The standard plans list 60-day event history. Ultra Secure adds eligible 24/7 recording with a separate 30-day history; do not treat those as the same recording mode.

Before you buy, consider whether Arlo is the right fit:

• Buyers expecting a camera purchase to include an alarm: Arlo's keypad hub, sensors and monitoring service must be selected separately as part of the intended configuration.
• Budget buyers should include the camera, any hub/storage and optional service when comparing totals
• Buyers who need saved footage without a cloud plan should verify camera, SmartHub and storage compatibility. Free cloud history is not a universal benefit on current cameras.

Does Arlo have an alarm system?

Yes. The Arlo Home Security System uses a Keypad Sensor Hub and All-in-One Sensors. Professional monitoring requires an active Smart Secure or Ultra Secure plan and setup. Buying a standalone camera does not include that alarm hardware or activate monitoring.

How long does Arlo battery last?

Runtime depends on the camera, activity, recording settings, temperature and power accessory. A compatible solar panel can help maintain charge when conditions permit; it does not guarantee indefinite operation. Check the selected model’s specifications and power requirements.

How much does Arlo cost per month in 2026?

US monthly prices are $9.99 for one camera or $19.99 for unlimited cameras at one location on Smart Aware, $29.99 for Smart Secure, and $49.99 for Ultra Secure. Annual billing has separate upfront charges. Professional monitoring also needs eligible Arlo Home Security System hardware and setup; equipment and tax are extra.

Can I use Arlo cameras with SimpliSafe or Ring?

You can evaluate Arlo cameras alongside another alarm system, but separate brands may require separate apps and services. Another alarm brand is an option, not a requirement created by a lack of Arlo alarm hardware: Arlo also offers its own Home Security System. Check integration and service requirements for the exact products you select.

Does Arlo work without a subscription?

Live streaming and two-way audio remain available without a service plan. Do not assume current cameras include seven-day free cloud recording. A compatible camera and SmartHub can support local storage; Direct Storage Access requires VMB5000 or VMB4540, compatible storage and configuration. Away-from-home local access needs additional network setup.

How does Arlo compare to Ring cameras?

Compare specific camera models for resolution, field of view, power, recording and subscription requirements. Both brands also offer alarm products. If you want cameras and a monitored alarm, compare complete configurations, including compatible sensors, hubs, backup equipment and the required service plan.

Does Arlo work with Alexa and Google Home?

Yes — Arlo cameras integrate with Amazon Alexa, Google Home, and Samsung SmartThings. You can use Alexa or Google Assistant to view live feeds on compatible smart displays and incorporate Arlo cameras into smart home routines.
