You do not need a subscription to use eufy security cameras. They record to a local HomeBase station or a microSD card in the camera, and your recordings stay yours with no monthly fee. eufy is one of the few big brands where "no subscription" means the camera still records, not just a live view on your phone.
For the full comparison of cameras that work this way, see our guide to the best security cameras with no subscription.
Most eufy cameras are built around local storage instead of a cloud plan. There are two versions of this:
Either way, the recording path does not pass through a paid plan. That is the whole pitch, and on the models below it holds up.
Here is the honest version. eufy's paid cloud backup is optional storage insurance: if someone steals the camera or the HomeBase, your clips go with it. The cloud plan buys you an off-site copy. Some AI features and storage upgrades also vary by model and plan tier, so check the exact model page before assuming a feature is included for free.
Honest catch: local storage means your footage lives in your house. A camera that gets ripped off the wall takes its recordings with it. If that scenario worries you, the cloud add-on or a camera pointed at another camera is worth thinking about. We cover how to think through recording tradeoffs in Camera Storage Days: Event Clips vs 24/7.
Solar-powered outdoor camera with a wide view and a zoomed lens. It records to the HomeBase with no monthly fee, and the solar panel keeps the battery topped up in decent sunlight. Our top pick in the no-subscription guide for a reason.
Honest catch: the full local-storage story needs the HomeBase. Confirm which HomeBase the listing includes, because bundles vary.
Hardwired floodlight camera that records locally. Floodlights are one of the few things that actually deter a break-in before it starts, and this one does it without a monthly fee attached.
Honest catch: it is hardwired, so installation is more involved than sticking a battery camera to a wall. If you rent, check with your landlord first.
Pan-and-tilt plus a wide lens, recording to its own microSD card. No hub, no plan. A strong pick for apartments and rentals where you cannot drill or wire anything.
Honest catch: you supply the microSD card, and card capacity decides how far back your recordings go. We explain how to think about that in our local storage guide.
