Your signed agreement determines the fee. ADT’s published monitoring terms charge 75% of remaining monthly charges during the initial term, with no termination charge in the subsequent 30-day renewal periods. Confirm which terms apply to your account. The fee is not necessarily your final balance.
Before estimating, find your service term and end date, the cancellation formula and the monthly charges it uses. Then request an itemized cancellation quote and service end date in writing. Check equipment financing, unpaid bills and notice-period charges separately. Do not assume a calculator includes them.

Estimate a possible ADT cancellation fee

Federal Cooling-Off Rule
The FTC rule covers certain home or temporary-location sales, with exclusions. For a covered sale, cancel by midnight of the third business day. Check your documents and follow the notice instructions promptly.
Qualifying military relocation (SCRA)
SCRA protection can cover home-security contracts after orders to relocate for at least 90 days to a location that does not support the contract. Ask military legal assistance to confirm eligibility and notice requirements. DOJ’s ADT guidance addresses charges beyond the current billing period for qualifying cancellations.
Service quality failure
Keep the agreement, service records and written complaints. Ask ADT to explain its proposed remedy and any cancellation charge. A service problem does not by itself establish a right to leave without charges.
Move outside service area
Ask ADT to confirm service availability and any transfer or cancellation terms in writing. Check your agreement before assuming a move removes the fee; compare any new term, installation cost and equipment requirement.
