Wyze Battery Video Doorbell update targets offline and playback problems
Updated October 27, 2026
Quick answer
Wyze released firmware 1.0.1.2388 for the Wyze Battery Video Doorbell on October 26, 2026. The company says it improves connectivity and microSD playback, adds Turn-Off support and includes other fixes. Check for it in the Wyze app, but do not assume something is wrong if it is missing: Wyze says the rollout will take several weeks. Official announcement, firmware release notes.
What changes in this release
The update is aimed at two everyday frustrations: a doorbell that drops offline and recordings that are difficult to play back. Wyze also lists support for a Turn-Off function, but does not explain its behavior in the announcement. Do not treat that brief description as a verified privacy guarantee.
This is a public release, although the build number is not new. Wyze previously listed 1.0.1.2388 in its July 6 beta announcement.
The published changes do not identify a newly disclosed security vulnerability or promise to solve every disconnection. We have not tested this build. For an owner, the useful question after updating is whether live view opens reliably and saved clips play back on their own network.
Why the update may not appear yet
Wyze’s release notes describe a gradual release over the next few weeks. An older version on October 27 is therefore not, by itself, evidence of an installation problem. Check again later rather than factory-resetting a working doorbell to try to force availability.
Match the full product name before following instructions. This announcement covers Wyze Battery Video Doorbell, not every battery-powered Wyze doorbell or the separately named Video Doorbell v2, Video Doorbell Pro and Duo Cam Doorbell.
How to check and update safely
1. Update the Wyze app through your phone’s official app store.
2. Fully charge the doorbell if using battery power. Wyze says its charge must be above 20% to start a firmware update.
3. Check doorbell settings → Device Info → Signal Strength. If the signal shows two bars or fewer, improve its connection before retrying an update.
4. Open Account → Firmware Update in the Wyze app and install the doorbell update when offered. Keep its power and network connection available while it finishes.
These checks follow Wyze’s update troubleshooting and connectivity guidance.
If an attempted update reports failure, Wyze recommends force-closing the app and waiting 30 minutes before checking whether it succeeded. Use its model-specific troubleshooting page if it still fails; a factory reset should not be your first response.
What this means for local storage buyers
Playback reliability matters when the recording you need is on a memory card. But this release does not announce a new recording mode or subscription arrangement.
There is an important hardware caveat: Wyze’s Battery Video Doorbell product page says local microSD recording requires continuous wired power. It supports cards up to 256 GB, sold separately. Do not read this firmware announcement as adding continuous recording on battery power alone.
Before buying, decide how you will retrieve footage and what happens if the doorbell or card is lost. Our local camera storage guide explains those trade-offs.
Frequently asked questions
Will this definitely fix an offline doorbell?
No. Wyze describes improvements, not a universal fix. Power, signal strength and the home network still deserve checks.
Does microSD playback replace cloud Event videos?
They are separate. Wyze’s recording support page says cloud Event videos require an active Wyze service subscription.
